Under Construction

Welcome on behalf of the Embassy of Georgia to the Republic of Slovenia!

I am honored to inform you that on January 25, 2019, I presented my credentials to the President of the Republic of Slovenia, H.E. Mr. Borut Pahor, during which the priorities of cooperation between Georgia and Slovenia in the coming years were redefined!

It is a great honor for me to represent the Georgian government in our friendly country, with which diplomatic relations were established on January 18, 1993. Slovenia is a member of the European Union and NATO and strongly supports our independence and territorial integrity, as well as European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

Despite the different geographical areas and histories, we as a small countries have a lot in common: many may not know that we are still united by the legends of the Argonauts and the Golden Fleece, both nations have fought for national identity and independence for centuries, and in the modern times Georgia and Slovenia are also committed to European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations.

Accordingly, the activities of the Embassy should be intensified in terms of strengthening this cooperation (bilateral and multilateral diplomacy) and activating economic and tourism potential (economic diplomacy).

It is important to deepen relations between peoples (public diplomacy); In particular, Tbilisi and Ljubljana, as well as Kutaisi and Maribor - are sister cities. Cooperation between Georgia and Slovenia in the fields of science, education, culture and sports (cultural diplomacy) also has a great potential.

The main purpose of the Embassy is to take care of the citizens of Georgia and the Diaspora, and in case of necessity provide them with consular services; for this purpose everyone can contact us at any time on the embassy phones or hotline, Facebook page or Twitter. Please contact us through this website as well. The door of the embassy is always open for cooperation with you and we express our readiness to assist you, within the scope of our competence, in the implementation of new initiatives and ideas.

From the new 2019, I wish you success and health, and our country - long-term peace and prosperity!

Best wishes,
Irakli Koplatadze
