Relations between Georgia and the Republic of Slovenia

Chronology of Diplomatic Relations

Diplomatic relations between Georgia and the Republic of Slovenia were established on 18 January 1993.

Georgian Ambassadors to the Republic of Slovenia:

 

  • George Arsenishvili (with residence in Vienna) - 2001-2004
  • Zaur Gamsakhurdia (with residence in Tbilisi) - 2004-2005
  • Nikoloz Nikolozishvili (with residence in Bratislava) - 2006-2011

 

Since 2011 it has been established Embassy of Georgia to the Republic of Slovenia

 

  • Alexsandre Nalbandovi (with residence in Bratislava) - 2011-2014
  • Aleksandre Chkuaseli (Charge d'Affairs) - 2011 -2014

Georgian Ambassador was appointed in 2014, with residence in Ljubljana

  • Zurab Bekaia (with residence in Ljubljana) 01.05.2014 - present

Since 2007 Georgia has being covered by Embassy of Slovenia in Ukraine.

Gocha Gochashvili (Honorary Consul of Republic of Slovenia) 17.12.2009 - present.

Main export products from Georgia to Slovenia: Manganese oxides, air conditioning machines, motor vehicles accessories, etc.

 

Main Import products from Slovenia to Georgia: Medicaments, food products, washing machines, electronic instruments, etc.

 

Fields of Cooperation

Bilateral relations between the two countries are not so active; however, cooperation within the international organizations is successful. It is notable that the new Georgian Embassy which was opened in Ljubljana will give a new impetus for relationship between the two countries. Parliamentary Friendship Groups of the legislative bodies between countries are functioning. Tbilisi and Ljubljana are twin cities.

Agreement between Georgia and the Republic of Slovenia for the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with Respect to Taxes on Income and on Capital
