Attention Travelers to Georgia!
Please be advised that according to the Georgian Law "On Tourism," starting January 1, 2026, all tourists entering Georgia are required to have a valid health and accident insurance policy.
Key Requirements
Presentation: Upon entry, tourists must present a valid insurance policy in either physical or electronic format.
Language: The document must be issued in Georgian or English.
Providers: Policies can be issued by either Georgian or foreign insurance companies.
Coverage: The minimum insurance coverage must be at least 30,000 GEL.
Validity: The policy must cover the entire duration of the stay, from the moment of entry until the tourist leaves the country.
Mandatory Policy Information
The insurance policy must include the following details:
- Parties to the insurance contract;
- Coverage territory;
- Subject of insurance;
- Insurance period (start and end dates/times);
- Insured risks;
- Coverage limits (sum insured);
- Insurance premium amount, including the place and deadline for payment.
Exemptions
The mandatory insurance requirement does not apply to:
- Holders of diplomatic or special visas;
- Holders of diplomatic, official, service, or special passports;
- Accredited staff of diplomatic missions, consular offices, international organizations, and their family members;
- Individuals entering Georgia under specific international agreements or treaties;
- Drivers engaged in international road freight and passenger transport.
